I believe that people find it harder to ignore the plight of our world's amazing creatures when they have knowledge about them and when they have seen and interacted with them in person. I set up this website to share the information I had collected through the years and some pictures I had taken.
As time went on it kept growing, to over 150 pages at one point. Then as things happen in the internet age, my website got hacked and they erased the entire site and all the pictures. I had a partial backup and was able to restore it to near what it was.
As I began fixing parts of the site, I decided to modernize it a bit. I also discovered that search engines had changed as well and if the site wasn't optimized for mobile devices, often people won't be able to find it.
So, I hope return visitors enjoy the new format as much as I hope many more visitors find it and discover information about California gray whales. And maybe, if you are so inclined, you might think about joining me on a trip.

California Gray Whales are among the most remarkable creatures on Earth, undertaking one of the longest migrations of any mammal - up to 12,000 miles round trip.
These magnificent animals can grow up to 50 feet long and weigh up to 40 tons. What makes them truly special is their curiosity and friendly behavior toward humans.
Gray Whales are a conservation success story - once hunted to near extinction, they have recovered thanks to protection efforts and are now thriving.

For decades, I have been leading whale watching expeditions and advocating for the protection of California gray whales and other marine wildlife. My journey began in the mid-1990s, and since then, I have dedicated my life to sharing the wonder of these creatures with others.

The Journey of This Website
📅 Mid-1990s - The Beginning
Created the original website with a color palette I thought was perfect (though my family disagreed!). Started sharing information and photos about gray whales.
📈 Growth Years
The website grew organically to over 150 pages, filled with information, photos, and stories about California gray whales and other amazing animals.
⚠️ The Setback
Website was hacked and nearly everything was erased. Partial backup allowed restoration, but it was a challenging moment.
🔄 Modernization
Realized the need for mobile optimization and modern design to reach new audiences. Decided on a complete redesign to continue the mission.
